玫瑰茄Roselle

This plant is slightly conical or irregular in shape, 2.5 to 4 cm long and approximately 2 cm in diameter. The calyx is purple-red to purple-black, with five lanceolate lobes. Below, a small bract is visible, fused to the calyx and approximately ten lanceolate. The base of the bract is hollow, left by the removal of the fruit. The corolla is yellowish-brown with linear striations on the outer surface and yellowish-brown at the base of the inner surface, occasionally showing sparse, coarse hairs. It is light and brittle. It has a faint fragrance and a sour taste.
