White chrysanthemum is a perennial herb, 50 to 140 cm tall, densely covered with white hairs. The stem base is slightly woody, purplish-red, and the young branches are slightly ridged. The leaves are alternate, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 3.5 to 5 cm long and 3 to 4 cm wide.

The drupe is oblong and contains a single seed. Flowering occurs from September to October.
